How to Give Flower Essences to Your Pet
Many pet owners have questions about how to give flower essences to their pet. When you purchase a bottle of Bach Flower Essences or any other brand of flower essence it will come in a small amber-colored bottle. You only need to use a small amount of the solution at a time. One bottle may last for a while so keep an eye on the expiration date. Store it at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. I have a cabinet in my kitchen, located away from any heat source like the stove or microwave, that is dedicated just to pet supplies which is where I keep my flower essences.
You can give flower essences to your pet in one of several ways. Of course choose the method that is easiest for you and your pet and insures that your pet receives the correct dosage.
Method #1: Apply Directly to Mouth
Many flower essences come with a medicine dropper attached to the lid, some come in a spray bottle. If you have a pet that is pretty agreeable to having you place things in their mouth then just put four drops(or however many drops are indicated on the bottle) of the essence directly into your pet’s mouth. Try to place it under the tongue. Many animals however do not like the taste of flower essences and may not like this method.
Method #2: Apply to Nose, Lips, Ears, or Paw Pads
Place four drops either on your pet’s nose, lips, or paw pads. He will either lick it off or it will be absorbed directly into the skin.
Method #3: Apply to Drinking Water
You can place 4 drops of the essence into your pet’s drinking water. Do this several times a day. If you have multiple pets, don’t worry about exposing your other pets to the flower essences as there is no harm to them if they also take the flower essences.
Method #4: Prepare a Treatment Spray Bottle
If your flower essence did not already come in a spray bottle you can add four drops to a small spray bottle containing water. Mist the air around your pet with the spray bottle. This may work best if you have pets that you have not sprayed or misted with water as a form of punishment.
You can use any combination of the above methods to ensure that your pet receives the proper dosage . For example, if you are only able to apply the essences directly in his mouth in the morning and the evening that’s fine. Just place a couple of drops in his drinking water before you leave for work.
More is not better. Only a small amount of flower essence is needed to have the desired effect. You are only wasting the flower essence by giving more than what’s needed.
Keep your pet on the essence regimen until you see noticeable and stabilized results. While results may be seen immediately in some pets, others may take between five days and two weeks to see results. If no changes are seen within this time frame it’s usually one of three problems: The best choice of essence(s) is not being used, dosage directions are not being properly followed, or the pet is not cause of the problem and maybe the owner should take a look at their own behavior.
